Camp Cedarbrook Special Opportunities - Horse Program:
** Note - the Horse Program mentioned below is for our girl campers. Starting
2009, we will have a trail riding class during boys week.
Horsemanship is for
girls entering grades 7 – 12.
Skill-building classes teach campers how to ride correctly and safely and to care for the horse and
equipment. A special fee of $50 is required, and you mustpre-register by sending this fee with
your registration form.
Try out the new class called Bits and Buckles. It is designed for girls
going into 6th grade who have already taken Horse Sense and would like a little
something different or campers who have some horsey experience but just are not
old enough for Horsemanship. It will be fun and challenging. A special fee of
$30 is required, and you must pre-register by sending this fee with your
registration form.
Trail Ridingclass will ride in the arena for 2 days practicing
trail obstacles and then trail ride the last 3 days. A written test will be given but no riding test. There
will be no CHA certification received from this
class. To participate you must be in grade
8 – 12 and have completed Elementary
horsemanship from CHA. A special fee of
$45 is required, and you must
pre-register by sending this fee with your
registration form.
Horse Campis a special
week of nothing but horses. Ground and
horseback classes. You will live and breathe
horses. Bible study, evening programs, all
activities centered around a horse theme. Limited
to only 18 campers entering grades 8 – 12. Total
cost for the week is $400 to $450 (no extra charges). It
runs parallel with Boys' Week. You will stay in
the bunkhouse (it is air conditioned).
Horse Sense is for campers entering grades
5 - 6. This class is designed to teach you
about horses and how to take care of them. This class is
the foundation for the horsemanship class. There is a
limited amount of riding on a lunge line. A special fee of
$15 is required and you mustpre-register
by sending this fee with your registration form.
